Pitt mechanical engineering professor named aiaa fellow
Peyman Givi, William Kepler Whiteford Professor, has been named Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, “For Pioneering Contributions in Mathematical Modeling and Computational Simulation of Turbulent Combustion”. Givi is the first faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh to receive this honor.
Givi and the other 2010 Fellows will be recognized at the Fellows Dinner on May 11, 2010 in Arlington, Virginia, and again at the black-tie Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala held in Washington, DC, on May 12, 2010.
Givi is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is currently serving as the University of Pittsburgh lead for the National Center for Hypersonic Combined Cycle Propulsion, funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration/Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
